What properties does Amla have that can make it beneficial for your hair?

Used for centuries by Indian women as the secret to their beautiful hair (the most sought-after hair in the world, by the way) Amla is purported to:

…and that’s not all- our castor oil base promotes healthy hair growth as well. The base is 100% organic, cold-pressed castor oil, and is not cut with cheaper oils like some you may find in your local beauty supply store. This is the real deal.

I make this blend using the somewhat tedious Ayurvedic technique of making a Kashayam. I use real cow’s milk (for the vitamins) and organic ground coconut. (If you are vegan and/or prefer a version of this oil made WITHOUT cow’s milk, it can be done for an additional $2.20 special batch fee. Please message me to purchase this way and I will create a special listing for you). I add a generous amount of Amla which has been imported from India and cook it down until the oil is complete. The finished product is a beautiful, reddish orange tinted oil that does not color or stain hair.

Ingredients: Organic Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Emblica officinalis (amla) Fruit, Lac (Cow’s) milk, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) meal.

We now leave some of the herbal powder in the oil because I have found that doing so makes for a far superior product:
• It can continue to infuse into the oil for the life of the product, thus resulting in an even more potent oil as time goes on
• It can enhance scalp massage with the oil due to the fine grain

Specs: will come in a plastic bottle with a twist top spout for easy application to the scalp.

How to use:
Shake well before use. A little really does go a long way. This oil is pretty thick so be sure not to use too much, especially for straighter/non-ethnic types of hair. Important: if applying directly mohair or completely dry hair and scalp- do not get moisture inside the bottle, whatever you do, as it can cause mold and bacteria to grow.

For best results, use daily by massaging into the scalp, lubricating the ends of hair as needed. Even better results can be achieved when using in conjunction with GHE (the greenhouse effect) or the inversion (Power Growth) method. Instructions on how to do these methods will be included with your order*. Just be aware that this and all oils can stain clothing, so it’s best to apply the oil before you get dressed or in clothes you don’t mind getting stained. You may also choose to put the oil on before bed and wash out in the morning, or leave it in for up to one week. You also may have good results by oiling your hair at night and "baggy-ing" it – meaning you put a plastic bag or shower cap on your hair, and cover that with a scarf. In the morning you can wash your hair and style as normal.

A Little Goes A Long Way:
If you apply it to your scalp only, one 4 oz bottle can last approximately 2-3 months. Over time and with regular use, you may see noticeably stronger, more beautiful hair.

So how long will it take to work?
That depends on the type and condition of your hair, state of health, diet, etc. (see our FAQ’s for more info). Some users result soon after beginning to use. Other users see results within 2-3+ months of frequent use.
