A rich, concentrated botanical hair and scalp oil featuring Castor Oil infused with a distinctive blend of Ayurvedic herbs and traditional botanicals including Amla, Shikakai, Horsetail, Yucca, Bamboo, Fo-Ti, Licorice, Rosemary and more.

Our India Red Castor Oil gets its characteristic reddish color naturally from its extensive botanical infusion. Because botanical ingredients vary from batch to batch, the exact shade of your oil may vary from the photographs shown.

This is a rich, castor-oil-based formula created for customers who enjoy heavier botanical oils for hair oiling, scalp care, pre-shampoo treatments, protective styling and conditioning the lengths and ends of the hair.

A BOTANICAL-RICH CASTOR OIL

Unlike a plain Castor Oil, India Red combines Castor Oil with an extensive selection of botanicals drawn from Ayurvedic and traditional herbal hair-care practices.

Amla

Also known as Indian Gooseberry, Amla has a long history of use in Ayurvedic and traditional Indian beauty and hair-care preparations.

Shikakai

Shikakai is another traditional Ayurvedic botanical commonly incorporated into Indian hair oils and herbal hair-care preparations.

Horsetail + Bamboo

These recognizable botanicals are incorporated into our India Red botanical infusion along with Yucca and Black Tea.

Fo-Ti

Also known as He Shou Wu, Fo-Ti has a long history of use in traditional Chinese herbal preparations. Here, it is included simply as part of our extensive botanical hair-oil blend.

Licorice

Licorice Root adds another traditional botanical to the India Red infusion.

Rosemary

Both Rosemary botanical material and Rosemary Essential Oil are incorporated into the formula.

Cayenne, Mustard + Horseradish

These warming botanicals contribute to the distinctive character of this concentrated herbal formula.

TWO FORMULAS AVAILABLE

SUPER CONCENTRATED

Our richest India Red formula, featuring the full botanical infusion in a Castor Oil base.

Choose this version if you prefer a concentrated, botanical-heavy hair oil and don’t mind a richer Castor Oil consistency.

REGULAR STRENGTH

A less concentrated version of India Red for customers who prefer a somewhat lighter botanical formula while still enjoying the character of the original blend.

HOW TO USE

Apply a small amount to the desired areas of the scalp and gently massage using the pads of your fingertips.

There is no need to saturate the scalp. Because this is a Castor Oil-based formula, start with a small amount and add more only as needed.

The oil can also be distributed sparingly through the lengths and ends of the hair for additional conditioning.

Use according to your individual hair-care routine and shampoo regularly to prevent excessive product buildup.

PRE-SHAMPOO HAIR OILING

India Red can also be incorporated into a pre-shampoo hair-oiling routine.

Apply the desired amount to the scalp and/or hair before shampooing. Concentrate on dry-feeling lengths and ends if desired.

Allow the oil to remain on the hair according to your normal pre-shampoo routine, then cleanse thoroughly.

CURLS, COILS & TEXTURED HAIR

The rich Castor Oil base makes India Red particularly well suited to customers who enjoy heavier oils as part of curly, coily, textured or protective-style hair-care routines.

It can be used with twists, braids and other protective styles or applied sparingly to the hair as a botanical hairdressing oil.

If your hair is fine, low porosity or easily weighed down by Castor Oil, begin with a very small amount or consider one of our lighter botanical hair oils instead.

IMPORTANT: Keep your existing Regular Strength ingredient list from the listing if its carrier/base differs from the Super Concentrated version.
